The Williamsburg Academy Lady Stallions edged Dillon Christian School Lady Warriors 24-22 in “B Team” playoff action in Dillon on Saturday, February 14.
Dillon Christian School controlled the tipoff. The Stallions had a 5-0 lead before Dillon Christian’s Charlotte Easterling connected for a 2-point basket. After the first quarter Williamsburg Academy led 8-2.
Kellahan sank a 2-point basket. The Warriors’ Easterling connected for a 2-point basket. The Stallions’ Bellahan added a free throw, and Bethany Hall sank a free throw to give the Stallions a 12-4 lead. The Warriors’ Easterling sank a 2-point basket followed by Delainey Hanna of Williamsburg Academy who hit a 2-point basket. As time was expiring in the first half, Hanna sank a basket at the buzzer to give Williamsburg Academy a 16-6 lead.
The Warriors began to cut the lead in the third quarter. At the end of the third quarter, the Warriors were down by 4, 16-14.
In the fourth quarter, Dillon Christian found themselves again only 2 points down, 20-18. The Stallions hung on and closed out the game with a 2-point lead, 24-22.
