Visiting Scott’s Branch Edge Lake View Gators At Homecoming

The visiting Scott’s Branch Eagles edged the Lake View Wild Gators 22-18 in varsity football action played in Lake View on Homecoming Night, Friday, September 12.
The Eagles took the opening kickoff and quickly reeled off two first downs including a huge pass for big yardage to the Eagles’ #10. On a deflected pass, the Lake View Wild Gators intercepted.
Lake View’s Jalen Clarke carried for 14 yards and a first down on the first offensive play for the Wild Gators. Lake View was forced to punt on fourth down and 10 yards to go on Lake View’s own 15-yard line.
The Eagles had great field position on Lake View’s 43-yard line after the punt. A pass completion to Scott’s Branch’s #10 for 12 yards gave the Eagles a first down and momentum. The Eagles’ #2, the quarterback, Jaiven Conyers, scored from 22 yards out with 4:46 remaining in the first quarter. The 2-point pass completion to #8 gave the Eagles an 8-0 lead over the Wild Gators.
The defense for the Eagles stopped Jalen Clarke for no gain on Lake View’s first play from offense. After an 8-yard pickup by Jalen Clake, the Wild Gators once again got the football into the hands of Jalen Clarke who scampered 41 yards for the touchdown with 2:01 remaining in the first quarter. The 2-point conversion failed. The Eagles led 8-6.
Lake View’s kickoff placed Scott’s Branch on their own 10-yard line.
The Eagles’ #10 carried and followed with a pass reception for a first down. The Wild Gators defense prevailed and a sack on the Eagles’ quarterback halted the drive. Chase Price kept for a few yards. Jalen Clarke carried for a first down and an additional 15-yard penalty against Scott’s Branch moved the football closer to the end zone. Chase Price rushed to the 3-yard line of Scott’s Branch. The Eagles’ defense stopped Price on the 2-yard line on the next play and also held Jalen Clarke to no gain on the next play. Price moved the ball to the 1-yard line. A deflected pass prevented a Lake View score. Scott’s Branch took over on the 1-yard line.
The offense for the Eagles went to work and slowly moved the football. After a first down, a completed pass picked up great yardage. The drive stalled, and Scott’s Branch punted to place the Lake View Wild Gators deep into their own territory…on their own 4-yard line.
Lake View’s Jalen Clarke moved the football to Lake View’s own 27-yard line. On fourth down and 3 yards to go, Lake View completed a pass to #3 for a first down. A deflected pass in the end zone was the end to the drive.
At halftime, Lake View held Homecoming and crowned the new queen and her court.
Lake View’s #19 took the opening kickoff of the third quarter and returned it to Lake View’s 40-yard line. After a 12-yard pass, Jalen Clarke picked up 7 yards. Lake View was on Scott’s Branch’s 41-yard line. Jalen Clarke scampered for a 41-yard touchdown with 10:06 remaining in the third quarter. The 2-point conversion failed. Lake View led 12-8.
Lake View’s defense stopped the Scott’s Branch offensive.
Lake View’s #14 returned the Eagles’ punt. Lake View’s offense went to work and moved the football. Faced with a fourth down and 2 yards to go for a first down on Scott’s Branch’s 37-yard line, an incomplete pass halted the drive. Scott’s Branch took over on downs.
The Eagles’ quarterback picked up a first down. Scott’s Branch’s #1 scored a 49-yard touchdown after the reception with 3:53 remaining in the third quarter. The 2-point attempted pass failed. Scott’s Branch lead 14-12.
Jalen Clarke carried for a 9-yard score with 10:46 remaining in the game. The 2-point conversion failed. Lake View was up 18-14.
Scott’s Branch scored a touchdown with 1:13 remaining in the game. The quarterback kept for the 2-point conversion to give the Eagles a 22-18 lead which would be the final score of the game.
Lake View will host Johnsonville on Friday, September 19, at 7:30 p.m.
Scott’s Branch will host Branchville on Friday, September 19, at 7:30 p.m.
