On July 10, 2025, Councilwoman Detrice Dawkins had the honor of officiating the installation ceremony for the newly elected and appointed officers of VFW Post 6091. During this important event, the officers raised their right hands and took a solemn oath to uphold their duties and responsibilities with integrity and dedication. These individuals will lead the VFW members by embracing the principles of servant leadership, prioritizing the needs of the organization in their efforts. Once the oath was administered, Councilwoman Dawkins officially transferred the gavel to the new commander, signifying the transition of authority from the previous leadership team to the new one.
