On August 28, 2024, the Dillon County VFW Post 6091 hosted a luncheon at Fresh Beginnings Christian Center in Dillon for 50 veterans and their families. Valuable information was presented at the event on the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs Healthcare eligibility/enrollment, S.C. Department of Veteran Affairs programs, VA Caregiver Support Program, the military discharge characterization upgrade process, and educational benefits for veterans and their dependents. Northeastern Technical College advisors also shared information about the academic services available to veterans.
During the luncheon, S.C. State VFW Service Officers assisted several Veterans with their military service-connected disability claims. Post 6091 expressed appreciation to Pastor Ricky Gilchrist and the Fresh Beginnings Christian Center congregation for providing the fellowship hall and to Humana Healthcare for their generous monetary contribution to the meal.
