Sharing their passion for music of many genres and always the promise of a good time are the driving forces behind Terry Powers and his band, Pepper Creek.
While playing everyone’s favorite cover songs to their own original material, Terry and Pepper Creek deliver a powerful, fun performance that keeps their audiences coming back for more.
Terry’s musical journey began at an early age when he was introduced to country music when he was given a Hank Williams, Jr. cassette tape and tape player for Christmas. He began sharing his musical talents early singing with his youth group at Sardis Baptist Church. They not only sang at their own church, but at other churches in the area.
As he grew older, he worked with bands including Still Water, Borderline, Bad Alibi, and now Pepper Creek.
Terry developed his talents of singing, playing the guitar, and songwriting composing his own music and lyrics. His musical influences are Barry White, Hank Williams, Jr., Jason Aldean, and Darius Rucker, and one will see these influences in his performances.
Terry says his true love will always be country and rock music, but his shows with Pepper Creek consist of country, rock, R&B, hip-hop, funk, and beach music. His melodic voice, enthusiastic stage performance, and love of fun enchant the audience.
His favorite part of being a musician is taking the pen and paper and writing a song, putting it together with the band, and then performing it, and having the audience sing the song that he wrote with the band.
Terry’s favorite of his original songs is “Carolina Tans” because it’s about his two favorite places—Dillon County, where he grew up, and North Myrtle Beach, where he loves to have fun. Another favorite is “We Cruisin’,” which has made it to No. 11 on the Riptide Radio’s Top 20 “The Greatest.” Some of his other original songs include Salty Southern Saturday Night, No Charge, Cold Hearted, and Here I Come.
His band, Pepper Creek, shares his love of fun and enthusiasm for performing. There were four original members who had worked together in other bands throughout the years and decided to join forces and form Pepper Creek. Current band members include Terry Powers, lead vocal/guitar; Wally Miles, bass guitar/vocals; Larry Rambaud, lead guitar/vocals; and Mike Posser, drums. Terry has been a part of Pepper Creek for two years. The band was most recently a 2024 Carolina Beach Music Award Rising Star nominee.
Ultimately though, it’s about the audience and making sure they have a good time. “We love to have fun on stage!,” Terry said. “The more we give the audience, the more the audience give us, and the harder we perform.”
Pepper Creek invites you to follow them on Facebook and to attend one of their upcoming performances. Pepper Creek will be the featured band on May 2nd at the City of Dillon’s First Friday at the Fountain.
