Students Recognized for Academic Excellence

Dillon School District Four Board of Trustees held their regularly scheduled board meeting on Monday, October 20, 2025. At the meeting, three students were recognized for making a perfect score on their 2025 SC READY state assessment. Family members joined district staff and board members at 6:30 p.m. for a recognition ceremony. Ava McRae was recognized for having a perfect score on her SC READY English Language Arts (ELA) test, Samantha Lee was recognized for having a perfect score on her SC READY science test, and Zy’Kiera Aaron was recognized for having a perfect score on her SC READY math test. Superintendent, Ray Rogers, congratulated each student for a job well-done. He and board chairman, Earl Gleason, presented students with personalized certificates. Ava McRae was a 4th grade student at Gordon Elementary last year. Her reading teacher, Patricia McRae, and her assistant principal, Candace Bohachic, were present to show their support. Ava is the daughter of Krystal Brown and Justin McRae. Samantha Lee was in the 6th grade at Dillon Middle School last year. Her principal, Felicia McCollum, attended the ceremony to show her support. Samantha is the daughter of Lisa Marin and Bradford Lee. Zy’Kiera Aaron was in the 8th grade at Dillon Middle School last year. Her principal, Felicia McCollum, was present for the ceremony, as was her current principal, Tim Gibbs. Zy’Kiera is the daughter of Rashawn and Kimberly Aaron. Jayne Lee, Director of Assessment and Instructional Support, announced to those in attendance, that this was Zy’Kiera’s fourth consecutive year to be recognized. Zy’Kiera has made a perfect score on her SC READY math test for four straight years. Mrs. Lee also announced that this is Ava’s second year to be recognized. Last year, Ava was recognized for having a perfect math score. Mrs. Lee also announced that all three girls were identified as Gifted and Talented according to state eligibility criteria. In closing, Mr. Rogers recognized and thanked the parents, administrators, and teachers present for the ceremony. As the students departed, family pictures were taken and each student received a Halloween bag filled with special treats, selected just for them.
