On September 7th, 2025, Deputies responded to McLeod of Dillon in reference to a victim with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced deceased moments later.
The victim was identified as Darrick Lamont Jones, 48, of Dillon.
The vehicle used to transport the victim to the hospital was processed by law enforcement for any potential evidence related to this case.
The initial crime scene was located on Smutherman Drive, in the Riverdale community, shortly after notification of this incident. Detectives processed the crime scene for evidence related to this case. SLED was called to assist with this investigation.
