Sheriff’s Office Makes Drug Arrest

On 05/13/2024 while on patrol, agents with the Dillon County Violent Crime Task Force noticed a tan 1995 Chevy Caprice traveling north on Highway 301. The driver of the vehicle appeared to be a known individual who had warrants.
Upon catching up with the vehicle, it did make a right hand turn onto E. Palmetto St. and travel down the center lane. At this time, Det. R. Bethea did initiate blue lights and siren on his patrol vehicle in order to make a traffic stop on this individual. The suspect refused to stop the car, and a brief pursuit began.
The suspect did flee in his vehicle for a few moments. He came to a dead end road, jumped out of the car with a bag and a small child in his arms, and ran through a wooded area on foot.
Law Enforcement went to the other side of the wooded area and located the suspect who was identified as Dominque Terrell Campbell, age 29, of Latta, and small child behind a residence. The suspect was taken into custody without any further incident. Law enforcement then located the bag that the suspect had run with, which contained illegal narcotics. Suspect Campbell was arrested and charged with the following:
– Trafficking in cocaine 100g or more but less than 200g.
– Trafficking in Fentanyl 4g or more but less than 14g.
– P.W.I.D schedule I Narcotics.
– Child Endangerment.
– Driving under suspension(Habitual Offender.
– Failure to stop for blue lights and siren.
– Unlawful Turning/turning from wrong lane.
Suspect Campbell was also wanted by the ATF on charges.
