The Dillon County Sheriff’s Office is on Smutherman Drive going door to door and canvassing the area trying to obtain information about the death of Darrick Lamont Jones, age 48, of Dillon.
On September 7th, 2025, deputies responded to McLeod of Dillon in reference to a victim with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim, Darrick Jones, was pronounced deceased moments later.
The vehicle used to transport the victim to the hospital was processed by law enforcement for any potential evidence related to this case.
The initial crime scene was located on Smutherman Drive, in the Riverdale community, shortly after notification of this incident. Detectives processed the crime scene for evidence related to this case. SLED was called to assist with this investigation.
