Seminar Brewing, the Pee Dee’s first commercial brewery, has undergone a change of ownership. As of June 11 Seminar is owned by a management team including local entrepreneur Tim Norwood and chef T. Cooper Thomas. Norwood and Thomas already collaborate on Victors and Notch 8 in Florence. Those operations encompass fine dining, a craft cocktail bar, banquets, and catering.

“Seminar’s reputation for outstanding beers such as Pixels and Citrocity is what drew me to this project. Knowing we have a chance to preserve and grow a Florence treasure is very rewarding.”—Tim Norwood

“The original owners gave Florence this extraordinary gift 10 years ago. We want to make sure Seminar remains the epicenter of Pee Dee beer culture and a gathering place for all of Florence,” said Tim Norwood.

The new team will be updating and modernizing the facility over the course of the next few months while maintaining as normal an operating schedule as possible. The food and cocktail programs will be revamped as well. There will be a grand reopening celebration at the conclusion of the changes. The event will be open to the public.

“Every change we have planned is about improving the customer experience. We hope folks will bear with us as we make those upgrades,” said Norwood.

“You can count on us for great food, drink, and value. But it’s our renewed commitment to this community that we’re most proud of,” said T. Cooper Thomas.

Seminar Brewing opened in 2014. After outgrowing its first location, it moved to its current site at 551 West Lucas Street in 2017. The brewery’s hours are Wednesday/Thursday 11 am to 10 pm, Friday/Saturday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
