Se’Lisa Scott Speaks To Nurturing Parenting Moms Group About Families With Autistic Children

The Dillon County First Steps Nurturing Parenting Moms’ Group had a very informative session on Wednesday, April 10. Mrs. Se’Lisa Scott, the guest speaker, spoke on her organization YANA Special Needs Support Organization which reflects on families with autistic children. There is no parenting guide on rearing children and especially rearing children with special needs, but Se’Lisa decided to create this group to support families who have children with autism and special needs. The moms enjoyed learning more about autism and sharing their stories of family members that are going through the same situation.
Parents of a child with ASD must have a good support system in place. This will help your child cope with the unique aspects of their disorder. It will also help you learn how to manage your feelings when faced with the challenges of raising a child with ASD. Pay special attention to the needs of other children in the family. Support groups that can provide a safe place for them to talk and share their feelings and fears.
