McLeod Health recently celebrated the second McLeod Health Nurse Residency Program Graduation. Seventy-five Nurse Residents representing McLeod Health Cheraw, McLeod Health Clarendon, McLeod Health Dillon, McLeod Health Loris, McLeod Health Seacoast and McLeod Regional Medical Center were recognized for their achievements.
The Nurse Residency Program (NRP) assists the New Graduate Nurse transition into a professional nurse role via workshop-style learning seminars and clinical experiences. The NRP uses a guided development curriculum to transform the New Graduate Nurse to a competent, confident, professional nurse. The general definition of a New Graduate Nurse is a nurse with one year or less of experience as a Registered Nurse. The NRP consists of six, monthly seminars and an evidence-based project. Each Nurse Resident is assigned to a cohort, led by a facilitator who guides discussions and seminars and serves as a mentor.
