The City of Dillon recognized Ryan Schafer, President of South of the Border, for The Schafer Foundation’s contribution to the City of Dillon’s new fire truck.
Dillon mayor Tally McColl said that The Schafer Foundation has been generous with city and county needs over the years. Last year, they donated shades for the splash pad and park at the City of Dillon Wellness Center.
McColl said they go to the end of their budget, and there was not enough to do what they needed to do with the fire truck. The city reached out to Schafer, and he checked with the foundation. Ten days later, McColl said, they received a check in the mail. He said that Schafer has been more than generous not only with the City of Dillon, but the surrounding area.
Fire Chief Keith Bailey thanked and shook hands with Schafer for his help on the truck. He said this will replace a 1985 truck that is 40 years old.
