Congratulations to this year’s Bobby Gerald Main Street Hero Award!
HMRA, Executive Director, Kelly Page was able to present the award this morning to Randy Brown and a few of his crew.
Bobby Gerald Hero Award:
The Bobby Gerald Main Street Hero Award was established in 2008 in honor of the late businesses man, community leader and long-time mayor Bobby Gerald. This award, given annually, recognizes an individual who has exemplified what it means to be a “Main Street Hero”, a person who works tirelessly to promote and improve the City of Marion’s Historic District, through businesses ownership, employment, volunteerism, and/ or civic involvement.
This year’s recipient has been an invaluable resource not only to HMRA but to the City of Marion as a whole. From hanging banners to hanging pumpkins in the tress, maintaining the courthouse square, and assisting the garden club with beautification projects. This individual plays a vital role in accomplishing all that it takes to make downtown Marion what it is today. Most mornings this person starts his day before the sun rises and works long hours till the job is done. He always has a smile on his face and is willing to help any way he can. He and his staff of 19 workers are a critical component to everything you see and love throughout our beautiful city. I simply ask when you see this group hard at work …please take a moment to stop and thank them for all they do.
This group’s dedication is the reason we are proudly known as the prettiest little town on the way to the Beach.
This year’s recipient has been employed with the City of Marion for nine years and is their Public Works Superintendent. On behalf of HMRA, I would like to present
The 2025 Bobby Gerald Main Street Hero Award to …… Randy Brown!
Randy would like to say: Thank you so much for this wonderful honor. I am truly grateful to be presented this award. I love the City of Marion and it my goal daily to help make it a beautiful place to live and work!
