A commemoration of Purple Heart Day was held on Thursday morning at the Dillon City-County Complex. Mayor Tally McColl, Rep. Jackie Hayes, and VFW Commander Joey Williams all spoke about the importance of the day and making sure it was recognized. Ronnie Stone, Jerry Alford, and David Moultrie, all Purple Heart recipients, were in attendance. McColl also mentioned Jimmie Daniels, a Purple Heart recipient, who was honored as the deceased veteran at the Memorial Day ceremony earlier this year. Prayer was offered at the end by Veteran John Harlow.
