Barbara Causey, the manager at the Mount Calvary voting precinct, recently appeared before the Dillon County Council to thank them for the work done at the American Legion Hall.
“The voters in the Mount Calvary Precinct, the poll workers for this precinct, and the American Legion would like to extend thanks to Mr. Kenny Cook, Mrs. Detrice Dawkins (in whose district this polling location rests), Mr. Tim Harper, and the other council members for their efforts in getting the west end porch of the American Legion Hall repaired,” Causey said.

“As the captain for the Mount Calvary Precinct, this area was of concern. The cement porch had begun to sink and had major cracks which could have caused someone to fall when exiting,” Causey said.
“For those who have not been to the precinct, the voting configuration is basically the primary entrance through the double doors. The registration table is located a few feet away from the East end of the building. The voters are then documented and given their ballots to take to the marking devices. The marking devices are located approximately six to eight feet from the west wall. The voters make their selections, a ballot is printed, and the voter is then directed to the counting device, which we have positioned at the west exit,” Causey explained. “From here voters can exit without having to go back through any crowds,” she said.
“The porch was in such a condition that it presented a hazard to anyone trying to leave the building by way of this exit.”
She again thanked the council for addressing this problem and it no longer being an issue.
