The presentation of the Sheriff Douglas Pernell photo will be on May 4th at 2:00 p.m. at the Dillon County Museum in Latta.
Mrs. Cynthia Pernell, widow of the late Sheriff Pernell, and the Dillon County Historical Society want to invite the public to join them on this occasion.
Pernell was Dillon County’s first African-American Sheriff, and the first African-American to win a countywide office. He was the first South Carolina Sheriff’s Association Deputy of the Year.
The museum is open every third Sunday of the month, and and they now have a page on Facebook titled, “Dillon County Historical Society,” where one can keep up with the group.
