Pee Dee Academy Golden Eagles Edge Hilton Head Prep Dolphins 34-33

The Pee Dee Academy Golden Eagles edged the visiting Hilton Head Prep Dolphins 34-33 in varsity football playoff action held in Mullins on Friday, November 14, to set up a playoff game between Pee Dee Academy and Bethesda Academy.
After prayer and a fireworks display, it was time for the exciting matchup between the Golden Eagles and the Dolphins kept everyone involved in the action.
Pee Dee Academy reached the end zone first on a 55-yard run by Tristan Heckman with 9:23 remaining in the first quarter. The PAT was good by Jacob Freeman to give the Golden Eagles a 7-0 lead.
Five minutes and 23 seconds was ground out by Hilton Head before the Dolphins’ #2 dove into the endzone for 6 points. The PAT was good by #19 to knot the score at 7.
The first quarter ended tied at 7.
Hilton Head Prep’s defense forced Pee Dee Academy to turn the football over on downs.
The Pee Dee Academy’s defense stopped the Hilton Head Prep offense, and Hilton Head Prep punted to their own 46-yard line. From there, Ryan Small picked up a first down. Pee Dee Academy faced a fourth down and 1 yard to go when Judson Martin carried the football to the 4-yard line. Tristan Heckman capped the drive off with a 4-yard run with 2:58 remaining in the second quarter. Jacob Freeman’s PAT was good. The Golden Eagles led 14-7 which would be the score at halftime.
Hilton Head Prep took the opening kickoff of the third quarter and started on their won 47-yard line. With 9:27 remaining in the third quarter, the Dolphins’ #2 scored a touchdown. The PAT was no good. Pee Dee Academy held a slim 1-point lead, 14-13 lead over Hilton Head Prep, a team that Pee Dee Academy defeated on October 3 44-0.
Hilton Head Prep recovered the football on Pee Dee’s 42-yard line with an onside kick. The Dolphins’ #9 was stopped on Pee Dee Academy’s 1-yard line after his reception and carry of the football. Hilton Head Prep’s #10 scored with 7:47 remaining in the third quarter. The 2-point conversion attempt failed but Hilton Head had the lead by 5 points, 19-14 over the Golden Eagles.
Pee Dee Academy’s Tristan Heckman scampered 78 yards on the kickoff with 7:36 remaining in the third quarter. The 2-point conversion was good by Tristan Heckman. Pee Dee Academy led 22-19.
The Pee Academy attempted an onside kick that Hilton Head ended up on their own 49-yard line with good field position. With 3:49 remaining in the third quarter, Hilton Head Prep’s #2 scored. The PAT was good. The Dolphins had regained the lead 26-22.
After an onside kick, Pee Dee Academy was on the 45-yard line. Pee Dee was force to punt on fourth down. Hilton Head Prep began on their own 23-yard line.
After 3 quarters of play, Hilton Head Prep led 26-22.
Hilton Head Prep punted on fourth down and 4 yards to go. The Golden Eagles began offense on their own 18-yard line.
The Dolphins recovered a fumble on Pee Dee Academy’s 49-yard line. With 8:19 remaining in the game, Hilton Head Prep’s #10 crossed the goal line. The PAT was good. Hilton Head Prep led 33-22.
The Golden Eagles began offense on their own 36-yard line after the kickoff. With 4:13 remaining in the game, Tristan Heckman scored a 1-yard touchdown. The 2-point conversion attempt failed by Judson Martin. Pee Dee Academy trailed by 5 points, 33-28.
Pee Dee Academy recovered a fumble on the kickoff with 4:13 remaining in the game. With 4:07 remaining in the game, Tristan Heckman scored a touchdown. The 2-point conversion attempt failed. Pee Dee Academy was up 34-33 and managed to hang on for the win to face Bethesda Academy on Saturday, November 22, at 7:00 p.m.
