The Pee Dee Academy Golden Eagles defeated the Dillon Christian School Warriors 57-28 in varsity football action played at Pee Dee Academy on Friday, October 31.
Prior to the start of the game, Laura Ashley Brady and her horse displayed the American flag during the National Anthem.
After prayer, the tossing of the coin took place at midfield.
After the teams entered the field, the fireworks began.
The Golden Eagles took the opening kickoff and began offense on their own 41-yard line. Pee Dee Academy’s Tristan Hickman crossed the goal line with a 59-yard touchdown on the opening play of the game. The PAT was good by Jacob Freeman.
Dillon Christian School picked up a first down on their first offensive plays of the game. However, unable to pick up another first down, the Warriors were forced to punt.
The Golden Eagles’ Tristan Heckman quickly picked up a first down followed by Judson Martin who also picked up a first down prior to his carrying the pigskin into the end zone with a 14-yard run with 4:51 remaining in the first quarter. Jacob Freeman’s PAT was good. Pee Dee Academy led 14-0.
The Warriors began on their own 34-yard line after the kickoff. Reese Bracey picked up a first down. Dillon Christian School picked up another first down on a pass interference call on a pass intended for Zach Ellis. The drive was capped off with a touchdown pass to the Warriors’ #10, Hayden Moody, with 1:35 remaining in the first quarter. Dillon Christian School’s #23’s PAT was good. The Golden Eagles led 14-7.
Pee Dee Academy was forced to punt on the next series of play. Rivers Tucker’s punt sailed for 48 yards.
The Warriors were forced to punt.
With 6:06 remaining in the second quarter, Judson Martin scored for the Golden Eagles. Once again, Jacob Freeman’s PAT was good. Pee Dee Academy led 20-7.
The Dillon Christian School capped off a drive with a 54-yard TD pass to the Warriors’ #9, Zach Ellis, with 1:46 remaining in the first half. The PAT was good by #23. Pee Dee Academy was up by 7 points, 21-14, which would be the score at halftime.
The cheerleaders performed at halftime.
Dillon Christian School took the opening kickoff of the third quarter and marched down the field and capped the drive off with a 4-yard TD by Reese Bracey with 7:23 remaining in the third quarter. The PAT failed but the Warriors only trailed by 1 point, 21-20.
The Pee Dee Golden Eagles wasted little time in placing 6 points onto the scoreboard with a Tristan Heckma 63-yard touchdown with 7:03 remaining in the third quarter.
With 4:55 remaining in the third quarter, Jesse Smith intercepted a pass and scampered 68 yards for a touchdown! The 2-point conversion was good. Pee Dee Academy led 36-20.
With 15.7 seconds remaining in the third quarter, the Golden Eagles’ Judson Martin carried for a 58-yard touchdown. The 2-point conversion was good. Pee Dee Academy was up 44-20.
In the final quarter, Pee Dee Academy added 13 points to the scoreboard, and Dillon Christian School added 8 points to the scoreboard.
