PEARL HARBOR REMEMBRANCE DAY
(Contributed by John Harlow)
On Saturday, December 7th at 10:30 a.m., the community is invited to attend a Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day ceremony to remember the 63 names on the Memorial Wall at Veterans Square of Dillon men and one woman who died during World War II. Further, to honor all our World War II Veterans. It was on December 7th ,1941 that Japan attacked the military forces of the United States at Pearl Harbor thereby ushering the United States into World War II. It will be a brief ceremony of prayer for our World War II Veterans, for the Dillon families of those who died during World War II, and for our military forces. Sadly, our surviving World War II Veterans will soon all be gone and it is we who must ensure that they, and that day in history, will not be forgotten. What was done by those who served in World War II was so remarkable and sacrificial for America, for the world, that on December 7th every year we need to take a moment and remember that season of our history and give thanks to those who fought the battles.
