A reception was held for outgoing Dillon County Councilmen T.F. “Buzzy” Finklea, Jr., and Jamal Campbell, and outgoing Clerk of Court Gwen t. Hyatt recently.
Dillon County Economic Development Director Rodney Berry presided over the reception.
Clerk of Court Gwen Hyatt thanked the county. She said she had been at the clerk’s office for almost 40 years first as a deputy and then the clerk. She also served as the probate judge for a short time while she was the clerk. She said she really thanked everyone for their help and their vote.
T.F. “Buzzy” Finklea served 18 years on the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office and then 12 years on the Dillon County Council. He said it was a pleasure to work for Dillon County and that Dillon County had a good workforce. He said it was his honor to have served as a Dillon County Councilman for the past 12 years and thanked the public for the honor of letting him serve.
Jamal Campbell served for 4 years and said it had not always been easy, but he tried to make things happen. He said that there had been over $685,600 in investment in the last four years in Dillon County. He said he is one of the youngest people ever elected to serve in Dillon County. He thanked everyone for their dedication, love, and support and said he would be glad to continue to help and assist the public.
Dillon County Council Chairwoman Detrice Dawkins thanked Gwen Hyatt for the service she rendered to Dillon County. She thanked Buzzy Finklea and said he was “remarkable” to work with and said she would miss working with him on projects. She thanked Jamal Campbell for his service.
After some comments from the audience, Berry offered a prayer, and those in attendance enjoyed refreshments.
At the council meeting, all were honored with plaques for their service.
