Several high officials from Alex Lee, Inc., which owns the KJ’s chain, visited the Dillon store on Wednesday afternoon. Shane Holliday, Vice-President of Operations, said Alex Lee, Inc. President Brian George and the management team have been going out and visiting some of their stores. He said they visited the Claussen store as well which has been recently remodeled.
Holiiday said one of their focuses in the KJ’s chain is bring the Bluebird Kitchens, which serves hot and ready favorites and has a sit down cafe, a water tower for tea, and the old style soda station. The Bluebird Kitchens will have the best fried chicken in town and the best biscuits. They tried out over 1300 recipes before settling on their biscuit recipe. Their biscuits are square because “they don’t cut corners.” The secret to their biscuits is that that as they fold the dough, they fold in grated butter, which makes their biscuits the best around with no waxy taste that some fast food biscuits have.
The best in biscuits doesn’t stop there. At the Bluebird Kitchens, they offer various flavors of dessert biscuits such as strawberry shortcake, apple walnut shortcake, banana pudding and gourmet cookie. This is something not being done in grocery stores.
The Bluebird Kitchens also have KJ’s To GO in some of their newly remodeled stores, where one can place their order on the app and come in and pick it up to avoid the wait. He said there are many good things coming to KJ’s stores.
KJ’s is a true Carolina-based business and a great company to work for, Holliday said. Alex Lee, Inc. owns Merchants Distributors, Lowes Foods, Souto Foods, and W. Lee Flowers, which includes KJ’s.
Come look at your local Dillon store for recent improvements, a fantastic deli, and great products at low prices.
