New Station 2 (Latta) Fire Truck Responds To First Fire Within Hours Of Arrival

Approximately 12 hours after Dillon County Station 2 (Latta) received their new fire truck, the truck was put into service when a fire occurred on Short Street. Here is a description of the incident from Station 2’s social media page reprinted with their permission;
The New Smell of our Engine is Now gone
At approximately 10:20 p.m., Station 2 was alerted for a structure fire on Short Street in Latta. Chief arrived on scene shortly after confirming a working fire in a single story residence. A aggressive push was made through the front door of the residence containing the fire to the rear. Primary and Secondary searches both came up negative. There was no injuries reported. Great job by all members on scene. We are proud to say our new engine responded and operated on its first fire less than 12 hours of receiving it.

While the truck’s new smell is indeed gone, the need for the new truck was demonstrated within hours of the truck’s arrival.
