COLUMBIA, SC (February 10, 2024) – When a Mullins man got a message from the South Carolina Education Lottery saying he’d won $1 million, he didn’t believe it. So he made a bet with a friend.
“I told my friend I’d give him $500 if it was a hoax or $1,000 if it was real,” he said.
And his friend made $1,000.
The Mullins man became a millionaire when his lottery ticket was selected from the more than one million entries received in the $1,000,000 Money Maker Second-Chance Promotion. The promotion allowed players to enter their winning and non-winning $1,000,000 Money Maker scratch-offs for a chance to win $1 million.
He says he’s spent some of the prize money paying off his car, paying off his house and giving to charity.
“It’s the best feeling,” the winner told lottery officials.
