Mullins Defeats Marion In 2025 Tobacco Bowl

The Mullins Auctioneers defeated the Marion Swamp Foxes 30-0 in the Anderson Brothers Bank Tobacco Bowl in varsity football action played on Monday, September 29, mostly in the rain.
Marion took the opening kick-off but were unable to move the football.
With 6:31 remaining in the first quarter, the Auctioneers completed a pass for a touchdown and added the 2-point conversion to go up 8-0.
Marion was faced with a fourth down and faked a punt and picked up a first down. The drive was stalled, and the Swamp Foxes were forced to punt.
After the first quarter of play, Mullins led 8-0.
In the second quarter of play, Mullins’ quarterback was sacked for a 5-yard loss. However, on the next play, Kanazzion Bethea threw an incomplete pass in the end zone intended for #12.
Marion took over on downs. After picking up a first down, Marion was forced to punt on the next series of plays when facing a fourth down and 10 yards to go.
Mullins quickly picked up a first down by Tyrone Allen followed by another first down by Kanazzion Bethea. The drive was ended on an interception on Marion’s own 5-yard line with 2 minutes remaining in the first half.
The Marion Swamp Foxes were forced to punt with 14.7 seconds remaining in the first half. The football was on Marion’s own 45-yard line.
The first half ended with Mullins on top 8-0.
The Mullins Auctioneers took the opening kickoff in the third quarter and quickly moved down field. After a couple of first downs, Mullins threw a pass into the end zone that was called back due to an ineligible receiver downfield. Mullins’ #16 rushed for a 1-yard touchdown with 6:07 remaining in the third quarter. The Mullins defense forced Marion to punt. Mullins took over on Marion’s 39-yard line. Mullins turned the football over on downs. Marion took over on their own 35-yard line.
After 3 quarters of play, Mullins led 16-0.
Mullins added a rushing touchdown by Kanazzion Bethea with 8:57 remaining in the fourth quarter. The 2-point conversion attempt failed. Mullins led 22-0. The Auctioneers added a rushing touchdown and a 2-point rushing conversion to close out the game with a 30-0 win.
With the win, Mullins has 3 wins and 2 losses for the season.
This Friday, October 3, Mullins will travel to Lake City, and Marion will travel to Conway to face Atlantic Collegiate Academy. Both games begin at 7:30 p.m.
