Board Meeting Minutes – January 8, 2025
● Prayer/Pledge – Glenn Greene
● Chairman Comments – Welcome back new year, lets power forward in 2025
● Approval of Minutes – No Minutes from November
● Financial Support – Amber presented report, very little spent in 2024
● Private Board – Mike is out
● Public Board – Glenn, CC building had been deeded to DCP3, Mike’s out-look for update next month, Need to raise money for remodel
● County Administrator Tim – Audit from 2024 was clean, swore in 2 new members Brad & Bobie, Stevie-Chairman, Dennis-Vice-Chairman
● Pee Dee Reg. Workforce Dir – Debbie Jones was here, works closely with schools on all sorts of industry business. Covers 6 Counties, works closely with schools on sorts of programs, Passion to connect Education to Workforce, focus on teachers, Works with both Public & Private schools. Looking to showcase our industry to the public & so students, parents, teachers understand the careers available in our area. Working on pathways to connect these opportunities.
● Economic Developers Update – Looking for Congressman Frye for Dillon County to get certificates for Ambassador Program, focus on Business Magazine – Dillon County was featured on Power Print – will send everyone link, next week group coming for 3rd time – very high on this recruitment (Sunbright), has industry looking at expansion, Have had 4 County project currently working..
● Roundtable – Jamie-offering in patient dialysis starts Feb. 10th-working to get – A general Surgeon for Dillon, Bryan – Congressman Frye’s office is up & running – he’s on Energy Commission will be helpful to our Area, Andy-Marlboro campus is nearing completion, bids out for Cheraw expansion, gifted more land for McBee Campus, Dillon County is NETC’s priority for 2025, Group going to Washington to meet, Gift of #25K for Entrepreneurs for anyone seeking to start a a business- business can get $2500 for seed money, Mamie- Assisting in Employment & training while looking for in new funding & Thankful to NETC, Tim – challenging project because of 4 counties 28 elected officials. Tally-Glen Wagner is retiring Burt will take over Mar. 4th, Lot Clearing question, letters about lead in water – All public water systems had to send that out, J.V. Martin – we checked All the boxes for Federal money – should be senior Living – this will be nice for downtown, Couple water projects &n infrastructure projects, Opening up for bids for Farmers market and entire block behind Police Station, Grand Opening of Police Department is January 27th 11-12
