McLeod Health On Call Measles Line Established

(February 23, 2026 – Florence, SC)–In an effort to protect patients, visitors and staff, McLeod Health is encouraging the public to call its On Call Measles Line before arriving at a McLeod facility, urgent care center or doctor’s office if they have been exposed to Measles or believe they have symptoms of Measles. The phone number is (843) 777-7070.
Calling ahead before arriving allows the care team to prepare appropriate isolation precautions. A McLeod Nurse will review the individual’s symptoms with them, the date of when they were possibly exposed, and provide guidance on which McLeod facility they should visit based on their location. The nurse will also call ahead to the facility to inform them that the individual is coming in with a suspected case of measles so they can greet them and take the necessary precautions. The public is also asked to please wear a mask when they enter the facility.

Measles is a highly contagious viral respiratory illness. It typically begins with:
· Fever (can be as high as 105°F)
· Not feeling well (malaise)
· Runny nose
· Red, watery eyes (conjunctivitis)
· Bluish/white spots on the inside of the mouth

A characteristic rash usually follows that starts on the face then spreads to the rest of the body.
