Marquita Britton announces her candidacy for Dillon County Clerk of Court.

I am a proud native of Dillon County, shaped by the values and experiences of our vibrant community. I was educated right here in the Dillon County School District, instilled with a sense of purpose and a commitment to service from an early age.

After high school, I embarked on a journey of higher education, attending Morris College in Sumter, SC, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. It was there that I honed my skills and cultivated a passion for excellence that would guide me throughout my career.

But my thirst for knowledge and my desire to make a difference did not end there. I pursued further education at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA, where I obtained a Master of Arts in Applied Psychology: Developmental Psychology. This academic journey equipped me with a deeper understanding of human behavior and motivation, skills that have proven invaluable in my role as a public servant.

For a decade, I have dedicated myself to serving the people of Dillon with unwavering commitment and dedication. As the general sessions clerk, I have had the privilege of working closely with attorneys, judges, and independent abstractors, gaining invaluable experience and insight into the inner workings of our judicial system.

But my journey is not just about the years I’ve spent in the courthouse; it’s about the passion and dedication I bring to the role every single day. I am not seeking this position for mere title or recognition, but because I understand the vital importance of the clerk of court’s office in ensuring justice and fairness for all.

This role is not just about managing paperwork or overseeing proceedings; it’s about upholding the integrity of our legal system and serving as a beacon of trust and reliability for our community. It’s about ensuring that every individual who walks through our doors is treated with respect and dignity, regardless of their background or circumstances.

I believe that my experience, combined with my deep understanding of the complexities of the legal process, uniquely qualifies me to lead the clerk of court’s office into the future. But more than that, I bring a genuine passion for serving the people of Dillon and a commitment to upholding the principles of fairness, transparency, and accountability.

Together, we can work to strengthen our judicial system, empower our community, and ensure that justice truly is blind. I am ready to roll up my sleeves and get to work, and I humbly ask for your support and your vote in the upcoming election.
