Marion County may know him as DJ Rowell, but soon the world will know him as “The Love Doctor.”
Rowell, the creator and producer of The Love Doctor, will be in Marion this weekend on Saturday, October 25th, with others connected with the film to premiere The Love Doctor in his hometown at the Marion Opera House. There are two showings—one at 3 p.m. and one at 7 p.m.
Limited tickets were still available at the time of this article, but premieres in both Phoenix, Arizona and Atlanta, Georgia, have both sold out so those who want the chance to be a part of this historical event should act soon. Several golden tickets have gone out in the community to lucky people who have touched Rowell’s life and the life of others in the same way.
“This film is a celebration of where I come from,” Rowell shares. “It’s about rediscovering love and hope, even after life has knocked you down. I couldn’t tell this story without honoring the people and places that helped shape me.”
The movie was filmed in Columbia, South Carolina, and features a star-studded cast including TC Carson, who portrayed Kyle Barker on Living Single and is known for his voice work in a number of other films God of War, Star Wars, The Clone Wars, and Tyler Perry’s She’s the People. Others starring in the film are Kellie S. Williams (Family Matters) and Chandra Currelley-Young (Diary of a Mad Black Woman), and of course, DJ Rowell himself as The Love Doctor.
