Marion Man Charged With Drug Possession After Traffic Stop

A Marion man was charged with drug possession after a traffic stop by a Dillon County Sheriff’s deputy. On April 4th, 2024, Deputy Trey Cox was patrolling Bermuda Road when he saw a blue Toyota Camry disregard the stop sign at Highway 9 East. Deputy Cox initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the driver, Raekwon Montre Floyd, had on his person, a 9mm handgun, and a clear bag containing a white powder substance weighing approximately 1.62 grams, believed to be cocaine. During a search of the vehicle, a 9mm handgun was located under the driver’s seat; 22.13 grams of green leafy substance believed to be marijuana was found in the passenger seat; a zip-lock bag containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana weighing approximately 26.5 grams was found; and a digital scale and some shotgun ammunition were also found. Floyd, age 27, of Marion, was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine, possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a felony, and simple possession of marijuana. At the time of this report, Floyd was in the Dillon County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
