Marion Man Charged In Murder

On July 2, 2024, Dre’shawn Jy’rine Dorsey (age 20 of Marion, SC), Laniya Ashley Hall (age 37 of Marion, SC) and Jacorial Takyra Gregg (age 21 of Marion, SC) were arrested in connection with the murder of Nigeria Davis. The incident occurred in the 1100 Block of Strawberry Street on June 3, 2024.
Initially, investigators were led to believe that the shooting was an accident and the victim was shot by a 3-year-old.
After further investigation it was determined that victim had been shot by Dre’shawn Dorsey, not by a 3-year-old.
Dorsey is charged with Murder, Discharging Firearms into a Dwelling, Discharging a Firearm in the City Limits, Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime, Pointing and Presenting a Firearm at a Person and Unlawfully Placing a Child at Risk of or Cause Harm or Willfully Abandon the Child.


Hall and Gregg are charged with Obstructing Justice and Accessory After the Fact of Murder.
Dorsey, Hall and Gregg are currently being held at the Marion County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
The incident is still under investigation.
