On June 17, 2025, Diamantae Karon Currie (25 yoa) of Marion was charged with the murder of Mr. Demetrik Tywan White on November 12, 2020. The incident occurred in the 1100 Block of Wallace Circle. Mr. Currie has been charged with Murder, Pointing and Presenting a Firearm at a Person, Unlawful Carrying of a Firearm, Discharging a Firearm in the City Limits and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Mr. Currie is currently incarcerated at Broad River Correctional Institution for Armed Robbery and Voluntary Manslaughter related to unrelated incidents from neighboring jurisdictions.
This investigation spanned 4 1/2 years. Our investigators never gave up on this case and put it countless hours reviewing evidence, speaking with the community and reviewing video in regard to this incident. Although this does not change the outcome of this violent and unnecessary crime, hopefully it can bring some type of closure and peace to the family.
