The Manning Monarchs won 57-53 over the visiting Mullins Auctioneers on Tuesday, January 7, in varsity conference basketball action.
Manning had a 7-point lead after the first quarter, 16-9. At halftime, the Monarchs were up 30-22. In the third quarter Mullins outscored Manning 15-13, and in the fourth quarter, the Auctioneers outscored Manning 16-14 but came up short in the contest.
Manning’s Taivon Carter scored 17 points. L. Stevenson added 16 points to the scoreboard. Jeffery Ceasar placed 9 points onto the scoreboard for the Monarchs, and Lovon Stevenson had 8 points. Joshua Cooper added 5 points, and Tyler Green connected for 2 points.
Mullins’ Dakarai Worley led all scorers with 29 points. He made nine 2-point baskets, two 3-point baskets, and five free throws. Deyon Ford added 16 points to the scoreboard with six 2-point baskets, a 3-point basket, and a free throw. A. Crawford added three 2-point baskets for 6 points. Amir Lee added a 2-point basket.
Mullins is 12-2 overall and 3-1 in AA Region 7 play while Manning is 9-2 overall and 3-0 in AA Region 7 play.
Mullins will host East Clarendon of Turbeville, S.C., and Manning will host ACA on Friday, January 10, at 7:30 p.m.
