Man Found Not Guilty Of Attempted Murder, Other Charges After Two-Day Trial

Michael J. Blunt was found not guilty of several charges late Tuesday afternoon, following a two-day trial in the Dillon County Court of General Session. He was facing 3 counts of Attempted Murder, one count of Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime, two counts of Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Vehicle, and one count of Discharging a Firearm into or at a Dwelling. One count of Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Vehicle was dismissed by the Court upon the defense’s motion for directed verdict, and Mr. Blunt was acquitted by the jury on the remaining six charges. Mr. Blunt was represented by Chief Public Defender Nathan Scales and Deputy Public Defender Jamie Scruggs. Both attorneys thank the jury for their service and decision in this matter.
