This year the Palmetto Boys State Encampment is being held again at Anderson University in Anderson, S.C. This is one of the most exciting weeks that these you men have had. They were chosen by their teachers and school counselors to be interviewed and tested by members of the Dillon County’s American Legion, Post #0032.
They were chosen because of their leadership ability and academic level. During the interview by the American Legion members, they are tested on their town, county, state, and federal government’s function and the people who make up the positions in these governments.
While at Anderson University, they are learning more about the principles of a democratic form of government, and they are also participating in running for offices in a mock government.
This year, due to the generosity of the Citizens of Dillon County, the American Legion was able to send 16 young men to Anderson University this week from June 8 through June 14. This is the most they have ever sent.
Delegates are the young men who will be going to Anderson University, and the Alternates are the ones who would replace a delegate if one can’t go.
Dillon Christian School delegates: Hayden Moody, Jacob Cline, and James Hyatt, and the alternate is Reese Bracey.

Dillon High School delegates: Michael Godfray, Antwan Drawhorn, Ethan Bakazan, William Hines (not in photo), and Kasen Hutto, and the alternate is Keryien Brown (not in photo).
