Helping the community is the goal of Bobby Porter of Boys To Men. He constantly seeks ways that he can give back to others.
Porter has now taken on another project—feeding the homeless, sick, and shut-ins in the community.
Every Tuesday, he and his helpers—Jason Cross, Benny Page, and Alicia Morrison —prepare and send out plates to the community. Today, it was pork steak and rice and gravy. Next Tuesday, it might be barbecue chicken. The menu varies. He instructs the driver that if he sees someone in need to give them a plate. The driver goes around town and sometimes even goes out to the projects giving a plate to whoever he thinks needs it.
Porter said he just wants to make sure that these people are getting “one good meal a week” as part of his efforts to take care of the community.
“People are struggling,” said Porter, “and I want to help.” He has the resources and has built the bridges to get things done.
