The Latta Vikings won 32-18 over the visiting Lake View Wild Gators in varsity football action played in Latta on Friday, October 17.
Lake View was victorious 35-20 in the meeting in October, 2024.
The Latta Vikings took the opening kickoff and began to drive towards the goal. Latta’s Irangabiye Johnson rushed for a 9-yard touchdown. The 2-point conversion attempt failed. Latta led 6-0 and this would be the score at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Latta’s Jayden Alford carried for a 3-yard touchdown. The 2-point conversion attempt failed. Latta was up 12-0.
Lake View’s Chase Price threw a completed pass to Keawe Jackson that was good for a 29-yard touchdown. The 2-point conversion attempt failed. Latta led 12-6.
Latta punted to give Lake View good field position. Lake View’s Chase Price rushed for a 3-yard score to knot the game at 12. The 2-point conversion attempt failed.
After the kickoff to Latta, Latta has the football on their own 45-yard line. Latta connected for a 45-yard rushing TD to go up 18-12. The 2-point conversion failed. Latta led 18-12 at halftime.
The Vikings kicked off to the Wild Gators to begin the second half of play. Lake View fumbled, and Latta recovered with great field position on Lake View’s 20-yard line. Latta turned the football over on downs to Lake View on their own 12-yard line.
The Vikings recovered a fumble on Lake View’s 40-yard line. From there, Latta moved the football, and Gavin Aubin scampered for a 40-yard score to give Latta a 24-12 lead. Fisher Richardson rushed for the 2-point conversion play. Latta led 26-12.
Lake View was forced to punt on fourth down. Latta had good field position on their own 46-yard line. The Vikings moved the football closer and closer to the goal line and capped the drive off with a 6-yard rush by Gavin Aubin to go up 32-12. The 2-point conversion failed.
In the fourth quarter, Lake View capped off a drive with a 3-yard rushing touchdown by Chase Price. The 2-point conversion failed. Latta led 32-18.
The 6-1 Latta Vikings will host Hannah-Pamplico Raiders on Friday, October 24, at 7:30 p.m.
Lake View will not have a game on Friday, October 24, but will host Green Sea Floyds on Thursday, October 30, at 7:30 p.m.
