The Latta Lady Vikings won 3-0 over the visiting Dillon Lady Wildcats on Monday, April 22, in varsity softball action played in Latta.
After 2 and ½ innings of scoreless softball, the Latta Lady Vikings managed 2 runs in the bottom of the third inning. Latta added another run in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Latta’s Maddie Berry pitched 7 innings and allowed only 1 hit, no runs, struck out 14, and walked 6. Paige Sherman suffered the loss. She pitched 6 innings and allowed 6 hits, 3 runs of which 2 were earned, struck out 10, and walked 2.
Dillon was held to only 1 hit in the game, a single by Mariah Campbell. Cierra Grice managed to pick up 3 walks in the contest, and Paige Sherman garnered 2 walks while Makayla Huggins managed a walk in the game.
Cierra Grice, K. Tanksley, Mariah Campbell, and Paige Sherman each had a stolen base in the game.
Latta managed 6 hits in the game. Maddie Berry had a triple, a double, a walk, and scored a run in her 2 at-bats. Paisley Jackson had 2 hits and 2 rbi in her 3 at-bats. Chayse Walters had a hit and scored a run in her 3 at-bats, and Aggy Hyatt had a hit in her 3 at-bats.
Latta’s Emily Smith, Katelyn Johnson, Paisley Jackson, and Aggy Hyatt each had a stolen base in the game.
Dillon committed 3 errors in the game, and Latta did not commit an error.
