The Latta Lady Vikings shut out the Lowcountry Leadership Lady Gators 12-0 on Friday, May 3, in a game played at Meggitt, S.C.
Latta’s Maddie Berry pitched the run-ruled 5-inning game for the win. She struck out 12, walked 1, and allowed no hits and no runs.
Nicole Galloway took the loss for the Lowcountry Leadership Lady Gators. She pitched 5 innings and allowed 12 runs of which only 5 were earned, allowed 10 hits, struck out no one, and walked no one.
The Latta Lady Vikings wasted no time in getting on the board in the top of the first inning when Katelynn Johnson singled that scored a run.
Latta then hit pay dirt in the top of the third inning when Paisley Jackson singled that scored 2 runs, Ne’Nyah Page scored after tagging up, and Paisley Jackson scored after tagging up.
In the fourth inning, Latta added 2 runs.
In the top of the fifth inning, an error allowed a run to score, Madison Kersey singled that scored a run, and Maddie Berry tripled that scored 2 runs.
Latta did not commit an error in the game while Low Country Leadership committed 5 errors.
Latta’s Maddie Berry had a single and a triple and 4 rbi in her 4 at-bats. Chayse Walters had 2 doubles, 2 singles, a rbi, and scored 3 runs in her 4 at-bats. Katelynn Johnson had 2 hits, a rbi, and scored 2 runs in her 4 at-bats. Paisley Jackson had a hit, 2 rbi, scored a run, and had a stolen base in her 3 at-bats. M. Kersey had a hit, a rbi, and scored 2 runs in her 3 at-bats. Erika Roberts was hit by a pitch.
Latta is 18-4 for the season.
