Latta Police Make Arrest In Hit and Run; Seeking Second Suspect

On February 21, 2025, units with the Latta Police Department and Dillon County EMS responded to the carwash near the intersection of S. Richardson Street and Main Street in reference to an individual being struck by a vehicle. The vehicle that struck the individual had fled the scene. Through eyewitnesses, a description of the vehicle was given and law enforcement units from Latta Police Department and Dillon County Sheriff’s Office began searching for the vehicle. The victim was airlifted to McLeod Florence with life threatening injuries. It was determined the situation stemmed from an argument that took place at a local convenience store before the incident. The situation escalated when both vehicles left the convenience store and pulled over at the carwash resulting in victim being struck by suspect with his vehicle. With assistance from Dillon Police Department and anonymous tips, investigators were able to identify the driver of the suspect vehicle. On February 24, 2025, information was obtained on the possible location of the suspect as well as the suspect vehicle. Units from Latta Police Department, Dillon County Sheriff’s Office, and Dillon Police Department followed up on the information and located the suspect vehicle along with the suspect who was taken into custody. Chief Bryant stated, “I want to thank all the citizens that assisted during this situation. It takes a village; from rendering aid to the victim to providing tips on the suspect, many folks played a huge role. It pays to do the right thing.” The victim is listed in stable condition.

The suspect who has been arrested is Jonathan P. Blalock of Latta. Blalock is being charged ATTEMPTED MURDER and LEAVING SCENE OF ACCIDENT WITH GREAT BODILY INJURY along with other traffic violations. Latta Police Department is actively looking for an additional suspect in the case.

Corey L. Greene of Mullins is wanted for MISPRISON OF A FELONY and ACCESSORY AFTER THE FACT OF A FELONY.
