The South Carolina Junior Scholar Award of Merit is awarded to students for outstanding intellectual achievement in the 2024-2025 South Carolina Junior Scholar Identification and Development Program. To qualify, 8th grade students must take PSAT and score 550 or higher on Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and/or 530 or higher on Mathematics.

Academic Challenge Team
Led by Captains Bella Herring and Landon Gasque, the LMS Academic Challenge team w had an impressive showing at the Regional Tournament at Francis Marion University. The team came in second place at regionals to Chesterfield-Ruby Middle School. Throughout the day’s competition, the team scored 120 points, which means they answered 120 questions correctly. We are proud of them and look forward to another great season next year.

ProTeam
Mrs. Britt would also like to recognize a student from her ProTeam class. ProTeam is a course designed to encourage students to become teachers. In this course, students write lesson plans and teach their peers. They also observe and assist teachers at the elementary school.
