The Latta Lady Vikings defeated the Myrtle Beach Lady Seahawks 12-3 in the second game of the double-header played at Myrtle Beach on Wednesday, April 24, in varsity softball action.
The game was scoreless until the fourth inning. the Latta Lady Vikings placed 2 runs onto the scoreboard in the top of the fourth inning when Erika Roberts singled.
The Lady Seahawks responded with 2 runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth inning when Maddie Thompson singled and Jerzy Kelly hit a ground out.
In the top of the fifth inning, Latta placed 10 runs onto the scoreboard. Latta’s Chayse Walters got things going with a single that allowed 2 runs to score. Katelynn Johnson then homered to score 2 runs. Paisley Jackson hit a single and picked up a rbi. Madison Kersey doubled and 2 runs crossed home plate. Jae Miller singled and picked up a rbi, and 2 runs scored on an error.
Myrtle Beach added a run in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Erika Roberts picked up the win for Latta. She pitched 5 innings and allowed 7 hits, 3 earned runs, struck out 4, and walked no one.
J. Kelly took the loss for Myrtle Beach. She pitched 4.1 innings and allowed 10 hits, 9 runs of which 8 were earned, struck out no one, and walked one. M. Thompson pitched 0.2 innings and allowed 3 hits, 3 runs of which 1 was earned, struck out no one, and walked no one.
