The Latta Lady Vikings won 5-3 over Green Sea in varsity softball on Tuesday, April 16, in a game played in Green Sea.
Maddie Berry doubled in the first inning and 2 runs crossed home plate. Latta added 3 runs in the fourth inning to go up 5-0. Green Sea Floyd scored on a walk and an error to cut the lead.
The winning pitcher for Latta was Maddie Berry who pitched 7 innings. She allowed no earned runs, 3 hits, walked 5, and struck out 16.
Green Sea’s Kalleigh Wilhelm pitched 4 innings and allowed no earned runs, 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4. Maci Collins pitched 3 innings and allowed 5 earned runs, 5 hits, walked 4, and struck out 1.
Latta managed 10 hits in the game. Aggy Hyatt hit a single, a double, and a triple in 4 at-bats. Madison Kersey had a triple, a single, a stolen base, and 2 rbi in 4 at-bats. Maddie Berry had a hit in 2 at-bats, 2 walks, and picked up 2 rbi in the game. Chayse Walters had 2 walks and scored a run in 2 at-bats. K. Johnson and P. Jackson each had a hit in 4 at-bats. S. Townsend had a hit a rbi, scored a run, was hit by a pitch, and stole a base in 3 at-bats. E. Roberts had a hit and scored a run in 3 at-bats.
Victoria Fryer and Blair Elliott each had a hit in 3 at-bats for Green Sea Floyds. M. Strickland had a hit and scored a run in 2 at-bats. R. Cox also scored a run in her 3 at-bats. The Trojans managed to steal 4 bases in the game. They also turned a double play.
Latta committed 4 errors in the game while Green Sea Floyds committed only 1 error.
Latta has won 12 games, lost 3, and tied one.
Green Sea has won 7 games and lost 12.
