Latta softball held Senior Night on Tuesday, April 29, in Latta, prior to the softball game against Carvers Bay.
Those honored were: Maddie Berry, Katelyn Johnson, Madison Kersey, and Erika
#3 Madison Kersey
Madison is the daughter of Ginger and Tommy Locklear and Chris Kersey. She has played for the Lady Vikings for the past 5 years. At Latta High School, Madison is a member of Girl Talk and the National Honor Society. In the Fall, Madison will attend the University of South Carolina and pursue a degree in Elementary Education. Her favorite softball memory at Latta High School has been the bus rides with music and edits on CapCut. As Madison closes her Lady Viking Softball career, she encourages the Lady Vikings to enjoy it, time will be up before you know it.
#11 Erika Roberts
Erika is the daughter of Bobbi and Lafon Roberts. She has played for the Lady Vikings for the past 6 years. At Latta High School, Erika is a member of the National Honor Society, Girl Talk, Student Council, Interact Club, Theatre Media Crew and Teacher Cadet. In the Fall, Erika plans to attend Coastal Carolina University and major in Kinesiology. Her favorite softball memory at Latta High School was her freshman year when she played for state along with all the relationships that were created throughout the years. As Erika closes her Lady Viking Softball career, she encourages the Lady Vikings to take in every moment and know that you have a valuable role on this team. Erika thanked her nana, Mrs. Bobbi, who influenced her to play softball to begin with. She was the person who started her love for the sport and she knows she is looking down on her with the biggest smile on her face.
#15 Katelyn Johnson
Katelyn is the daughter of Davy and Shelley Johnson. She has played for the Lady Vikings for the past 6 years. At Latta High School, Katelyn is a member of the National Honor Society, Viking Theatre Workshop, Shall GO, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Varsity Cheer Captain and the reigning Miss Viking. In the Fall, Katelyn will continue her softball career at Erskine University where she plans to major in Biology. Katelyn plans to attend Medical School later for become a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. Her favorite softball memory at Latta High School were the bus rides her freshman and sophomore years. As Katelyn closes her Lady Viking Softball career, she encourages the girls to remember, what you put in is what you get out. Don’t take these years for granted because they go by too fast. Katelyn would also like to encourage the Lady Vikings to play every game like it’s your last, because you never know when that last game will be.
#16 Maddie Berry
Maddie is the daughter of Crystal and Kyle Berry. She has played for the Lady Vikings for the past 6 years. At Latta High School, Maddie is a member of the National Honor Society, Girl Talk, Student Council, Interact Club, Teacher Cadet, Fellowship of Christian Athletes Huddle Leader, FFA, and the Varsity Volleyball team. In the Fall, Maddie will continue her softball career at Wofford University where she plans to major in Biology. Her favorite softball memory at Latta High School was winning lower state at home and going on to play for state in 2022. As Maddie closes her Lady Viking Softball career, she encourages the Lady Vikings to play every game like it is your last and never take a pitch for granted.
