Latta High School Retires Tyreik McAllister’s Jersey

Latta High School retired Tyreik McAllister’s jersey on Tuesday, January 26, at the Latta/Lake View High School basketball game.
Latta High School Athletic Director Robbie Brown welcomed everyone to the event. Brown remarked “Tyreik broke and set records while in Latta.” He was the kind of person that one would want as a role model. He was not only a good athlete, he was also a good person.
Latta Superintendent Stephanie Ard spoke of Tyreik McAllister’s character. “It is great when youngsters have a role model such as Tyreik.”
McAllister was born on April 7, 1995.
Not only was McAllister a great wide receiver for the Latta Vikings in football, he also excelled in basketball and track. While playing football for the Latta Vikings, McAllister earned All-Conference and All Zone Team honors.
In fact, on Friday, December 12, 2014, McAllister helped the Latta Vikings win 76-75 over the Mullins Auctioneers with his clutch shooting in basketball. McAllister also excelled in track as evidenced with his ninth-place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.39 seconds on Saturday, May 16, 2015.
On Friday, May 6, 2016, McAllister signed to go to Palmetto Prep. From there, he moved to the University of Charleston, West Virginia. He also was in Canada at one time.
This year, McAllister was on the Las Vegas Raiders of the NFL as a wide receiver and a return man. McAllister suffered a shoulder injury this year that sidelined him for some time.
Tyreik McAllister spoke to all who were present. “If I can do it, all of you can, too. Keep faith, believe in God, and believe in yourself.” He thanked everyone for the support he has received throughout his career.
