The Latta Vikings defeated the visiting Marion Swamp Foxes 54-19 in a non-region varsity football action played at Buddy Johnson Park in Latta on Friday, August 29.
The Vikings held a 14-7 lead after the first quarter of play. At halftime, Latta was up 22-13.
Marion was held scoreless in the third quarter while Latta placed 16 points onto the scoreboard to go up 38-13. Marion added a touchdown in the final quarter while Latta added 2 touchdowns and two 2-point conversions for 16 points.
Latta’s defense: Xy’Mari Bethea had 8 tackles and 2 tackles for a loss while Ryion Gurley 14 had tackles and 5 tackles for a loss. Gavin Aubin had 3 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss. Zack Page had 5 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss. Zamarion Monroe had 6 tackles . Kayden Rogers had 4 tackles and 2 tackles for a loss. Noah Alford had 5 tackles and 2 tackles for a loss. Jayden Alford had 3 tackles and 2 tackles for a loss. Hayden Bullard had 4 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, and 1 interception. Mason Weatherford had tackles and 1 tackle for a loss. Caden Herring had 1 tackle and 1 tackle for a loss. Josiah Durant had 2 tackles.
Latta’s offense: Fischer Richardson carried 21 times for 143 yards and 3 touchdowns. Johnson carried 9 times for 82 yards and 1 touchdown. Hayden Bullard carried 4 times for 36 yards. Jayden Alford carried 4 times for 16 yards, had 1 reception for 14 yards, and a punt return for a TD. Xy’Mari Bethea 1 carried 1 time for 8 yards. Gavin Aubin carried 5 times for 30 yards and 2 touchdowns.
