Two people who are accused of passing counterfeit money at stores in the area were arrested by the Lake View Police Department last night (Thursday, September 18th), according to Lake View Police Chief J.J. Smith.
Police got a tip through a call that came to 9-1-1 that a car that was alleged to be involved in the incidents had been spotted in the Lake View area. Chief Smith said Sgt. Vincent Kabacevic, who he praised for his good work, walked into the store and detained the female who had just passed off a counterfeit $50 bill to the clerk and the second suspect, who was waiting in the car in the parking lot, was also detained. Chief Smith was also on scene less than a minute after the sergeant arrived.
Amy Chavis, age 43, was charged with forgery, accessory before the fact of a felony, and possession of cocaine, Chief Smith said. Octavia Moore, age 37, was charged with conspiracy, possession of cocaine, and possession of marijuana.
Chief Smith thanks the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance.
At the time of this article, the suspects were being held at the Dillon County Detention Center.
