The Post and Courier Pee Dee has announced its 2025 Pee Dee Top 20 Under 40, honoring
young professionals who are making significant contributions across the region. Among this year’s honorees is Tabitha D. James, a Lake View native and community leader whose work spans mentorship, business strategy, and civic engagement.
James was both nominated and selected for this recognition, a reflection of her commitment to empowering others and advancing opportunities throughout the Pee Dee. She serves as the Executive Director of SHE Is Me Mentoring Program, which equips young ladies across the Carolinas with tools for academic success, leadership, and personal growth.
In addition to her role with SHE Is Me, James serves as President of Pearls of Promise and Purpose Interest Group of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, where she leads initiatives centered on scholarship, sisterhood, and service. She also serves on multiple local boards, including Rural Area Leadership Dillon County, Dillon County First Steps, Friends of the Florence County Library, the Coastal Carolina University Black Alumni Chapter and the Pee Dee Regional Workforce Advisory Board.
Through her firm, SHEAM Strategic Consulting Group, James partners with small businesses, nonprofits, and community organizations to build sustainable brands, marketing plans, and strategies that drive measurable results. Her work continues to bridge purpose and performance while championing collaboration, education, and empowerment.
“I am truly grateful to be recognized among so many incredible young professionals in the Pee Dee,” said James. “Every project, every initiative, every late night is driven by a deep love for this community. I am thankful to those who see value in that work.”
The Top 20 Under 40 Reception will be held on November 4, 2025, celebrating the honorees and their collective impact across the region.
