Lake View High School has a new principal this year and a returning assistant principal who is in her second year at the school.
Mr. Rodney Cook is the new principal of Lake View High School. He comes from Dillon Middle School, previously JV Martin, where he was the principal for 17 years, assistant principal for 2 years, and a Business and Math teacher for 5 years. He began his teaching career in 1999 at Gordon Elementary teaching 6th grade math.
Mr. Cook is a 1988 graduate of Dillon High School. He continued his education as a football player at Newberry College where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. After working in the business field for 8 years, he felt the call to enter the field of education prompting him to complete the PACE Educator Certification program at Coastal Carolina University, and later earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Tennessee at Martin.
As the new principal at Lake View High, his first priority is to build relationships with the students, staff and community members of Lake View. His goals are to continue to support all of the programs that make a well rounded student, including academics, sports, music and arts programs, FFA, and other extracurricular activities. Joining the Lake View team has always been a dream of his, and he is excited to take on the challenge of leading a high school.
Rodney is married to Donna Cook and together they have 4 children. He is the son of Jesse and Alice Cook of Dillon, SC. In his free time he enjoys hunting and fishing or just being on the river.
Ms. Angie Gordon begins her 28th year in education and 2nd year as the assistant principal at Lake View High School. She earned her B.S. in Mathematics from Francis Marion University followed by a Master of Education in Mathematics from Walden University and a Master of Education in Education Specialist/ Administration from Clemson University. She is also a two-time National Board-Certified Teacher in Mathematics. She has taught both middle school and high school level mathematics in Laurens, Greenwood, Summerville, and Dillon, and loves her new position in Lake View. “It has been such a blessing to return home and be a part of the community I grew up in.” Gordon said. “The best years of my life were spent in Dillon County, and I feel like I received a top-notch education here. It is my hope to help the students in Lake View have the same positive experience.” Ms. Gordon is an avid sports fan and can be found supporting the student athletes of Dillon District 4 year-round. She has one son, Trey Copeland, who is continuing the family tradition in education as a high school mathematics teacher in Greenwood. “I am very grateful for the opportunities that Dillon District 4 has given me since I moved home, and it has been my privilege to work in a job where I can give back to the area where I grew up. It just means a little more when you get to serve the students in your hometown.”
Both are looking forward to a great school year at Lake View High School.
