The Lake View Wild Gators defeated Hardeeville 36-7 in the South Carolina High School State Championship Class 1 A varsity football in a game played in Lake View on Thursday, November 14.
The game was played on a wet field with heavy rainfall at times.
The first quarter was scoreless.
With 11:02 remaining in the second quarter, Tyrell Foxworth, Jr. rushed for a 12-yard touchdown. Lucas Schamp’s PAT was good to give Lake View a 7-0 lead over Hardeeville.
Hardeeville’s #1, Camari Brown picked up a first down with his reception followed by Jamontae Roberts carry to set up a reception for Dylan Prior who scored a 13-yard touchdown with 7:42 remaining in the second quarter. The PAT by Camai Brown was good to knot the score at 7.
After Tyrell Foxworth, Jr. returned the kickoff to Lake View’s own 20-yard line, Tyrell Foxworth, Jr. scampered 80 yards for the score with 7:10 remaining in the second quarter. The PAT was good by Lucas Schamp to give the Wild Gators a 14-7 lead.
Hardeeville fumbled, and Lake View recovered the football on their own 49-yard line. After an overthrown pass to Caleb Myers, Kason Herlong kept the pigskin and raced 45 yards for the touchdown with 5:34 remaining in the first half. The PAT was good. Lake View led 21-7.
With about a minute left in the first half, Kason Herlong completed a pass to Ashton Locklear for a 38-yard touchdown. Lucas Schamp’s PAT was good to give Lake View a 28-7 lead.
The Wild Gators kicked off to Hardeeville to begin the third quarter of play.
With about 9 minutes left in the third quarter, Lake View’s defense blocked a Hardeeville punt, and Seth Deese returned it for 34 yards for the touchdown. The PAT was missed. Lake View led 24-7.
With about a minute remaining in the third quarter, Hardeeville recovered a fumble and has the football on their own 35-yard line. The third quarter ended with Lake View on top 34-7.
With about 11 minutes remaining in the game, Lake View picked up a safety to go up 36-7 over Hardeeville.
